HR Systems Project Manager

HR Systems leads and manages HP's HR Systems, Data and Technology Enablement. Human Resources recognizes us as the first stop for "the what" in systems enablement, as experts in providing solutions support to complex business problems, and as the gateway to IT.
The HR Systems Program/Project Manager is an intermediate level position with varying responsibilities but primarily responsible for Program/Project Management of major Plan of Record directives. This position will oversee the implementation of global HR initiatives utilizing HR and IT resources to achieve the desired result.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with HR and IT project managers to complete project objectives on-time and within budget
- Develop, control, and update the project plan
- Develop project team structure and identify roles and responsibilities/expectations for each team member
- Point of contact for sponsors and stakeholders regarding the project
- Focus on scope, cost, schedule, resources, risks, critical dependencies, constraints, and outcomes
- Communicate project status to sponsors and stakeholders on a regular basis
- Ensure that each project phase is completed, reviewed, and signed off by sponsors
- Ensure that the project team works effectively to achieve objectives
- Track issues, driving ownership and resolution
- Own project documents (project plan, action logs, issues logs, decision logs, etc.)
- Approve strategy documents (deployment, testing strategy, etc.)
- Escalate issues impacting the project to working sponsor as appropriate
- Risk Planning, Mitigation, and Contingency Planning
- Facilitate project team meetings
- Drive creation, prioritization, and clarification of business requirements
- Present to HR Systems in Checkpoint meetings throughout the project
- Facilitate project review meetings, phase reviews, steering committee meetings
- Lead global, virtual teams
- Manage engagement with external vendors when necessary
- Support PMO administrative tasks
Education and Experience Required:
- First-level university degree or equivalent experience
- Typically, 2+ years related experience in human resources functional area, HR Generalist, or HR Consulting role
- Minimum of 2 years program/project management experience on global implementations
- Minimum of 2 years of experience required as a business, systems, data, or project analyst in relevant HR or IT function
- PMI or PMP certification preferred
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Knowledge of human resources, with expertise in several functional areas (compensation, benefits, staffing, learning and development, etc.)
- Strong business and financial acumen
- Very good verbal and written communications skills, including influence, consulting, and negotiation
- Strong program management skills, including implementation and feedback analysis; strong leadership skills
- Good relationship management skills
- Ability to translate business needs into human resources initiatives
- Ability to manage change across a broad and diverse population
- Workday HCM experience is preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including PowerPoint, MS Project, Excel, Word, Visio, Outlook, SharePoint, and Smartsheet
- Experience using program planning tools and software packages to create, manage, and track project results
- SOX Audit experience is preferred
- Very good presentation skills with the ability to tailor the presentation based on the audience
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and provide guidance and support to junior team members
- Flexibility to work across time zones and geographies
