Team Overview

You will become part of the Government Affairs team in Latin America reporting to the Head of GA Mexico. You will be providing strategic inputs and executing advocacy efforts with stakeholders to protect and expand DiDi’s operations, from a data-driven and collaborative approach. Monitor and analyze the political and regulatory landscape to timely identify risks and opportunities. Good communication and negotiation skills are required.

As the Government Affairs Manager for DiDi in Mexico, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategic initiatives to enhance the company's relationship with government officials and regulators at all levels. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with local laws and regulations while advocating for favorable policies that support DiDi’s business operations and growth.

Role Responsibilities

Your Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Analysis: Monitoring and analyzing relevant legislation, regulations, and government policies that may impact DiDi's operations in Mexico.
  • Contributing to the expansion plan of the company at country and regional levels.
  • Liaising with the government and other stakeholders in pursuit of innovative transportation and mobility solutions from a win-win perspective.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Building and maintaining strong relationships with government officials, policymakers, industry associations, and other key stakeholders to advocate for DiDi’s interests.
  • Strategic Advocacy: Developing and implementing government relations strategies that align with DiDi's objectives, advocating for policies that promote innovation and fair competition in the mobility sector.
  • Compliance Oversight: Collaborating with legal and compliance teams to ensure all business practices meet local regulations and standards.
  • Establishing DiDi's brand and profile with key stakeholders in high-level decision-making, including governments, companies, scholars, and specialists.
  • Policy Development: Providing insights and recommendations to the management team regarding public policy strategies, including preparing briefing materials and reports.
  • Monitoring, analyzing, and preventing risks of the regulatory framework in the country, with the aim of advocating for best practices on digital platform regulations and policies for ride-sharing, delivery, fintech, and other related topics.
  • Public Affairs Campaigns: Leading initiatives to engage the public and raise awareness of DiDi’s contributions to the local economy and community.
  • Event Coordination: Organizing and participating in meetings, events, and forums to promote DiDi’s interests and initiatives with governmental representatives.
  • Crisis Management: Assisting in developing strategies to address any political or public relations issues affecting DiDi’s operations.
  • Team Collaboration: Working collaboratively with other departments, including marketing, operations, and legal, to ensure a cohesive approach to government relations.
  • Liaising with business chambers and other stakeholders to boost the company’s influence, presence, and networks.
  • Reporting to the Head of GA SSL and business leaders on local policies and regulatory developments or updates.

Role Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will have:

    • A passion for technology and improving mobility in the country.
    • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, economy, international relations, law, or business-related degree.
    • Master’s degree preferred.
    • 8+ years’ experience in public affairs in private or public sectors or NGOs. Government background is a plus.
    • Solid experience in engaging high-level government, policy, business, and industry stakeholders.
    • Strong understanding of the regulatory environment in Mexico regarding transportation and technology services.
    • Proven ability to be self-driven and to work in a high-demanding role.
    • In-depth knowledge of the country's political system.
    • Good understanding of the regulatory challenges for digital platforms in the country.
    • Proven ability to develop stakeholders networks and relations to influence policy decisions.
    • Independent thinking and ability to work under pressure.
    • Hands-on approach and ability to prioritize tasks at different levels.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Ability for teamwork and organizing action plans across several teams.
    • Availability for traveling.
    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with fluency in both Spanish and English.
    • Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze complex issues and provide actionable recommendations.
    • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
