Job Summary:

As an Electronic Component Engineer, you will have the unique opportunity to direct and contribute to the concept, development, and design of electrical harness components ranging from low voltage connectors and wires used in communication to high voltage connectors used for power management and charging systems.

The Wiring Harness Components team is responsible for end-to-end design and development of components for multiple Caterpillar applications. You will have the opportunity to strengthen your simulation skills, analytical skills, and mastery of mechanical and electrical engineering concepts associated with wiring harnesses.

What the candidate will do:
You will be responsible for the execution and coordination of design efforts necessary for the successful design and development. You will have the opportunity to lead and work with a highly experienced team of engineers having significant experience across Caterpillar machine, engine and electrification applications:

• Design Owner of products
• Strong collaboration with suppliers through potential Development Agreements
• Quality leadership through PPAP and overall APQP rigor
• Current Product Improvements through feedback from the field
• Collaborate with machine businesses NPI & NTI product programs and their respected design groups
• Supply chain ownership of materials and cost
• Identify and work with other Caterpillar subject matter experts on aspects of the design

Education requirement:
Electrical Engineering or Mechatronic, Mechanical Engineering Degree, or related work knowledge.
Advanced English-speaking level.

What skills the ideal candidate will have:

Communication

• Makes oral presentations and writes reports needed for own work.
• Lead weekly meetings with suppliers and internal clients.
  • Keep notes and action items and communicate them after meetings.
• Maintain a good relationship with internal clients and external suppliers.
• Listens to feedback without defensiveness and uses it for own communication effectiveness.

Product Design – HTH:

• Gather requirements for the design from internal clients and communicates them to suppliers.
• Designs and supervises the integration of the part into the different systems and applications.

Electronics Engineering – HTH:

• Intermediate knowledge in Design, Development, and Production of electrical and electronic components.
• Basic knowledge of integrated circuits design and manufacturing.

Supplier Management - MFG:

• Lead meeting with suppliers to discuss field return analysis, quality, manufacturing, supply and product development topics.
• Use internal tools to follow manufacturing processes and change notifications.

What the ideal candidate will have:

• Knowledge in CREO.
• Six Sigma or NPI process knowledge.

Additional information:

This position will be located in Santa María.

The work schedule is set for Monday-Friday 7am-4pm.

Domestic relocation is available.

Traveling International/Domestic at 20%. (VISA required)
