WHAT WE DO
The global training/L&D team at Bain builds capabilities through a range of learning options. This includes live virtual and in-person programs, apprenticeship, coaching, mentoring, social, and self-directed digital learning. We are expanding the range and reach of digital/online learning at Bain through “next generation” content and engaging learner experiences.
As a senior leader within the global training/L&D team, the Director, Digital Learning Design, is responsible for providing strategic leadership and setting the direction for digital learning design at Bain. This role entails driving the overall strategy, vision, and execution of digital learning designs and solutions across the organization. It also includes ensuring that the global training/L&D team develops fully integrated learning experiences for all end customers, across all learning channels (digital, in-person, virtual, other). The Director is a key decision-maker and collaborator, working closely with senior stakeholders to optimize digital learning technologies and ensure high-quality experiences.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Lead the strategic direction for the digital learning design team
- Develop and articulate the vision, goals, and objectives for digital learning design and development at Bain, aligning with the organization's strategy.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders to identify and prioritize areas for digital learning expansion, aligning with business needs and future trends.
- Drive change management initiatives to ensure the successful adoption of efficient and effective digital learning production methods.
- Lead the formulation and implementation of comprehensive digital learning design strategies that leverage emerging/AI technologies and best practices.
- Implement future-focused approaches to agile learning design processes and methods.
- Provide thought leadership and guidance on learning experience design, staying updated on industry advancements.
- Foster a culture of innovation and commitment to industry-leading designs that support Bain populations and their work needs.
- Be recognized as the go-to expert on digital learning design within the organization.
- Lead Digital Learning team initiatives and act as a recognized leader within the global training/L&D and talent teams.
Lead and manage the digital learning design teamlet- Lead end-to-end project management process for complex learning initiatives.
- Prioritize projects across different firm priority initiatives based on business need.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the department, effectively managing resources, budgets, and timelines.
- Foster collaboration and cross-functional partnerships.
- Provide strong leadership, mentorship, and coaching to a team of digital learning designers.
- Set clear objectives and performance expectations, ensuring alignment with team/organizational goals.
- Lead the team to generate high-quality and innovative designs and solutions.
- Establish and implement quality assurance processes and a culture of continuous improvement.
- Represent digital learning design teamlet with internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with senior leaders.
Oversee the measurement and analytics of the impact of digital learning solutions- Develop, promote, and integrate a strategic approach to impact measurement.
- Collaborate with global training digital learning engagement and strategy/design teams.
- Optimize digital learning designs for our learning technology environment.
- Cultivate a network of global stakeholders to gather feedback.
ABOUT YOU
- BA/BS or equivalent, with strong credentials, ideally in education, learning, or design.
- Relevant certifications in digital learning content development, design thinking, learning experience design.
- 10+ years of experience designing and developing digital learning.
- 10+ years of experience with content development.
- 5+ years of experience leading/project managing end-to-end learning design initiatives.
- 5+ years of experience leading and coaching learning design teams.
- 5+ years of experience partnering with vendors.
- 5+ years of experience with design thinking, user experience, and human-centered design.
- 5+ years of experience interfacing with learning management systems.
- Experience with project management tools.
- Experience with Agile, Kanban, and/or Scrum.
- Knowledge of basic coding and website design a plus.
- Proven experience successfully applying cutting-edge learning technology.
- Proven track record of presenting and publishing.
- Experience as a consultant is highly valued.
- Experience using LXP/LRS databases.
- Experience working for a global professional services firm.

U.S. Compensation Information
Compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, 401(k) plan with an annual employer contribution based on years of service and Bain’s best in class benefits package.
Some local governments in the United States require a good-faith, reasonable salary range be included in job postings for open roles. The estimated annualized compensation for this role is as follows:
In Illinois state, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is between $147,500 - $176,500.
For all other locations, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is commensurate with competitive geographic market rates.
- Annual discretionary performance bonus.
