Job purpose
BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for a Electronics Hardware Architect - Electrification. The Electronics Hardware Architect - Electrification is responsible for analyzing, developing, documenting, and allocating the hardware architectural design on new and innovative power electronics products.
Key responsibilities
- Develop hardware block diagram
- Including ASIL decomposition and cybersecurity control mechanism impacts
- Product Mechanization Drawing (PMD)
- Allocate hardware requirements
- Including hardware element FS impacts
- Define interfaces for hardware design (PMD)
- Document hardware blocks
- Including sub-blocks where applicable
- Product Definition Document (PDD)
- Establish bidirectional traceability
- Between Hardware Requirement and Hardware Blocks
- Analyze hardware architectural design
- Ensure design is defined, consistent and complies with HW requirements
- Perform CS vulnerabilities analysis
- Hardware Design Verification
- FS-related systems, combination of methods per ISO-26262 are used
- CS-related systems, the CS Assurance Level approach is used.
- Baseline and communicate hardware architectural design
- Product Mechanization Drawing
- Product Definition Document
- Work with customers to establish and capture requirements in documents or models
- Work with design teams to establish requirement traceability in requirements management tool, Polarion
- Work with customers on product design for safety by creating required ISO 26262 supporting documentation and testing
- Work with design teams to create Product Definition Documents to capture and define product requirements and implementation
- Work with design teams to understand how to implement and test requirements
- Work with test groups to create requirement traceability matrix documents
- Work with support groups to enable successful validation, manufacturing, and post-production support
- Support product development bench equipment
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the following tools: ETAS/INCA, ATI/Vision, Lautherbach/Trace32
What we’re looking for
- Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering field, preferably electrical engineering
- Desire to be part of a deeply skilled team and to engineer automotive power electronics for the next generation of electrified vehicles, while working with some of the world’s top automakers
- 3-5 years of engineering experience; however, preference will be given to those with 5+ years’ experience
- Experience with Polarion or other equivalent tools
- Familiarity with general lab equipment, scopes, meters, debuggers
- Knowledge of safety analysis for automotive systems, ISO 26262 Functional Safety, DFMEA, FMEA, FMEDA, and FTA analysis
- Knowledge of ASPICE, JIRA, AGILE
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Some travel (less than 10%) and a flexible work schedule on occasion
- Preferred:
- Experience with developing architecture(s) for automotive power electronics applications
- Familiarity with electric/hybrid vehicles
- Familiarity with electric drives and electric machine controls
- Familiarity with inverter, dc/dc converter, and/or on-board charger topologies
- Familiarity with the development of automotive embedded systems, system simulation, and modeling tools (e.g. MATLAB/Simulink)
- Familiarity with the development of on-board diagnostics
- Familiarity with design approaches to meet functional safety requirements
- Familiarity with structured problem-solving techniques
- Familiarity with automotive data buses (e.g. CAN)
- Familiarity with automotive microprocessors
