Engineering Director - Site Leader

JOB SUMMARY:

As the Engineering Director you will be responsible for strategically directing, managing, and coordinating teams and activities at the Monterrey Engineering Development Center. This includes partnering closely with a large cross-functional global product development team - for example Sourcing, Manufacturing and Compliance - to successfully execute Engineering programs. In addition to leading teams and programs, this role will act as the Site Leader for the Engineering Center in Monterrey.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Champion and lead the technical execution of all Engineering vehicle programs in Mexico through the Product Development Process (PDP) ensuring all customer requirements are met (Quality, Performance & Cost), driving efficiency, and delivering new features and technology.
2. Partner with Product Planning, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Compliance, Finance and Global Engineering teams to review and support long-range product plan, yearly budget, and overall technical execution plan for all Off-Road Products.
3. Ensure Safety and Quality Standards are achieved and executed across the product portfolio.
4. Continually advance the engineering team, optimizing the structure and bringing in new capabilities to drive future growth plans.
5. Lead the engineering team in Mexico – drive employee development, engagement and capability building for the site.
6. Manage multimillion-dollar R&D budget driving productivity and efficiency.
7. Benchmark Off Road industry and parallel similar industries to drive learnings across the organization.
8. Own product quality requirements and improvement plans for Off-Road products.
9. Identify and implement tools and processes to improve Vehicle development.
10. Ensure alignment across the global organization including functional teams and the business.
11. Manage the day to day building needs along with annual capital planning and long-term plan for the Engineering building.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATION:

Required:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations discipline.
2. MBA or Master degree in Engineering field.
3. 15+ years of leadership in Engineering Manufacturing industries, recommended previous leadership in automotive companies.
4. 10+ years of direct leadership experience preferred or an experienced and proven leader who has the demonstrated ability to build effective departmental and cross-functional teams.
5. Highly collaborative and thrives in a global matrixed environment.
6. Proficient in English – spoken and written.

Preferred:

1. Understanding of product development methodologies for a wide range of engineering disciplines.
2. Demonstrated experience managing the development of complex systems and/or technologies following a well-defined process, preferably PDP.
3. Cross functional project management and/or commodity management experience required.
4. Ideal candidate has experience working in a durable goods manufacturing environment. Target industries would include: agriculture equipment, automotive, appliance, powersports, construction, aviation, or tier I automotive.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Normal office working conditions.
Ability to travel up to 10% both domestically and internationally.
