Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network.
Key Responsibilities
- Leads development of theoretical models, new processes, new materials, testing methods or equipment to apply to process, design or manufacturing issues.
- Leads technical teams in solving complex problems on new product and process development.
- Designs experiments and develops testing methods to validate theoretical models.
- Develops new processes and improved equipment design.
- Develop products, processes and technologies to meet cost objectives and customer specifications.
- Provides technical leadership in troubleshooting.
- Communicates technical plans, technical solutions and approaches both up and down the organization to technical and non-technical audiences.
- May have direct report responsibilities including career development and ongoing performance feedback.
- Coaches, mentors and/or develops team members and emerging SMEs.
- Identifies, secures and prioritizes necessary tools and resources.
- Leads small to medium technical projects.
- Contributes to organizational, strategic or commercial problem solving.
- Links with commercial and new business organizations for product attributes, customer special requests, and other technical inquiries or testing.
- Uses and champions the Innovation Process and Manufacturing Excellence Engineering principles.
- Documents findings and communicates learnings through RTR Reports.
