Summary
This role plays a fundamental part in supporting the Materials, Operations, and Finance departments by evaluating and managing inventory, applying supply chain principles, and improving processes. The Inventory Control Coordinator must identify and perform root cause analyses, articulate findings, and create and implement solutions to increase inventory reliability and ensure proper material handling across various areas.


Main Activities And Responsibilities

  1. Provide the necessary tools and equipment to carry out material counts.
  2. Maintain and execute a cycle counting program and ensure compliance with the schedule.
  3. Keep cycle count results updated.
  4. Perform root cause analysis for inventory with reliability below 95%.
  5. Keep database parameters updated to direct actions for each part number (e.g., supplier, active purchase orders, lead time, transit time, maximum, minimum, etc.).
  6. Maintain inventory control based on defined objectives.
  7. Coordinate root cause analyses with a multidisciplinary team and ensure the implementation of corrective actions.
  8. Meet individual and team KPIs established by the plant.
  9. Keep a checklist for counts performed, including the review of:
  • Receipts, supplier reconciliations, consumptions, subassemblies or WIP, FG, shipments, scrap, waste, and returns to suppliers.
  • Conduct random audits of raw material receipts.
  • Audit scrap reported by Quality/Production.
  • Promptly report discrepancies to the Material Planner and Superintendent.
  • Comply with established safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Set continuous improvement goals to streamline and enhance the cycle counting process.
  • Train personnel involved in cycle counting.
  • Monitor and resolve negative inventory across different plants and warehouses.
  • Meet individual and team KPIs on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Work closely with the Operations and Shipping Coordinator to support daily plant objectives.
  • Drive the implementation of visual management systems for inventory control.
  • Analyze and follow up on inventory audit results.
  • Provide timely reports and analysis.
  • Study and standardize procedures to improve inventory accuracy and service levels.
  • Escalate risk situations with the necessary information for decision-making.
  • Coordinate physical inventory activities and ensure timely supply of materials.
  • Provide root causes and actions for discrepancies found during the annual physical inventory (collaborate with Purchasing, Quality, Engineering, Production, and Finance departments).
  • Actively participate in IATF internal and external audits and LPA activities.
  • Actively engage in in-person activities such as training, town hall meetings, recurring meetings, and physical inventories.
  • Education/Experience/Skills

    1. Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
    2. Proficient in computer usage, including MS Office and MRP systems.
    3. Extensive knowledge of cycle counting methods and annual physical inventory processes.
    4. Experience in inventory management and control.
    5. Knowledge of receiving, shipping, consumption, and subassembly practices.
    6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    7. Fluent in spoken and written English (80% desirable).
    8. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.

    Language Skills

    1. Effective communication skills.
    2. 80% English proficiency (spoken and written).

    Mathematical Skills

    1. Strong numerical comprehension.
    2. Analytical abilities.

    Reasoning Ability

    1. Problem-solving skills.
    2. Ability to interpret a variety of written, spoken, oral, diagrammatic, and programmatic instructions.

    Computer Skills

    1. Proficient in MS Office software (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) and Lotus Notes.
