The Cost Accountant will be responsible for applying accounting principles to the month-end close process, preparing account reconciliations and reports, and addressing various inventory-related activities including special projects. The Cost Accountant will review cost expenditures, record data, and provide internal reporting to support the Operations teams.
General Responsibilities
Supports close activities for the company to accurately report results within the closing cycle
Prepare, reconcile, and report on relevant cost accounting close activities
Prepare journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations
Assist in maintaining cost accounting system, documentation, records, and reporting
Assist with analyzing changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on costs
Review and document costs for all external inventory, labor, and material purchases
Prepare and complete internal cost audits
Review and document inventory and material purchases
Accurately record and update existing and new purchased materials and goods
Compile documentation on standard costs and company production costs
Ensure compliance with applicable accounting guidelines, policies, and internal control procedures
Coordinate and execute physical inventories according to annual plans
Experience / Qualifications
A university degree required (i.e. Bachelor’s degree) or equivalent relevant work experience
Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
Strong communication skills; oral, written, and presentation
Strong organization, planning, and time management skills to achieve results
Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers
