Responsibilities:

  • Social License Strategy: Develop and execute sustainable strategies to achieve consent and maintain the social license of local communities, including ejidos and indigenous groups, through intelligence, social investment, ensuring the successful execution and operation of the company's projects and operations in Mexico.
  • Project Management and Collaboration: Facilitate project management and collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders, as necessary, to ensure the company's relationships with different communities.
  • Strategic Alignment: Serve as the point of contact with government and community relations in Canada and the U.S. for the alignment of global and local strategies.
  • Proactive Risk Management: Implement a comprehensive risk management framework that identifies potential challenges at an early stage, allowing timely interventions and the activation of a robust network of allies to mitigate risks. Anticipate and respond to changing political and economic environments in the areas where TC Energy operates.
  • Fostering Partnerships: Foster partnerships with companies, indigenous and non-indigenous communities, and other relevant actors to develop joint initiatives that align with the interests of these groups, creating shared value, activating the economy in these areas through local products, and reinforcing the social license to operate.
  • Participation in Industry Associations: Ensure prominent participation in appropriate industry associations to advocate for TC Energy's position and ensure its interests are advanced through these associations.
  • Continuous Improvement and Team Development: Invest in the development of a high-performance team by providing training and resources that enhance their skills.
  • Research and Analysis: Stay abreast of trends and developments in government policy and legislation through research, analysis, and interpretation of national and international data.
  • Other Tasks: Perform other tasks as necessary.

Experience & Requirements:

  • Fully bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • Familiar with Government relations in Mexico, from municipal to federal levels.
  • Proven experience of at least 8 years working alongside state government authorities.
  • Demonstrated experience participating in high-level decision-making political circles.
  • Experience in local politics is an asset.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong respectful relationships with a variety of groups, from the grassroots to senior levels, both internally and externally.
  • Superior communications skills, both verbal and written with the ability to effectively present to a variety of audiences.
  • An ability to think and work proactively and independently to set and accomplish priorities based on broad objectives in a continuously evolving context.
  • Excellent problem-solving capability; ability to find creative solutions to complex problems.
  • Strong business acumen, facilitation and influencing capabilities.
  • High energy and able to work in a dynamic and diverse team environment and collaborate positively with many groups.
  • Travel requirements: 40% of the time.
  • Location: Mexico City.
  • Experience in the energy industry is an asset.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to political science or other social science coupled with a minimum of 8 years of experience in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Master's degree is an asset.
  • Proven track record of successfully working with many stakeholders at different levels.
