Job Summary:

Deliver assigned tasks from assigned brand/category. Support interaction with business partners such as Quality, Regulatory, Environmental Affairs, Occupational Health and Safety (EOHS), Technology Insights, Legal, Supply Chain and Product Development. Assist with formula development, stability evaluation, and evaluation of formula properties within assigned brand/category, and communicating results with other functions.

Provide an applied, rather than a theoretical, approach to problem-solving on a day-to-day basis. Seek solutions to technical problems. Work may range from the use of defined methods to the exercise of some degree of technical judgment.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct experimental tasks such as making lab batches, supporting batch scale-up, conducting laboratory testing on products, analyzing data and following aging studies.
  • Internal (e.g., peers and supervisors) communication of lab experiment results and information.
  • Keep detailed written records of experimental work, observations and summarize results.
  • Maintain accurate documentation such as notebooks, necessary Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and bundle books.
  • Recommend new and/or improved product evaluation methods, procedures, and processes.
  • Ensure assigned activities are conducted and documented according to Quality requirements and systems; implement applicable preventive or corrective actions.
  • Conduct preliminary feasibility assessments on new technology and conduct basic foundation research, and lab performance evaluation.
  • Assist in formula development, stability evaluation, evaluation of formula performance and communicate results to other functions.
  • Summarize product and process development learning.
  • Compile data required to ensure and conduct efficient technology transfer; identify and communicate potential issues.
  • Understand and use safe handling procedures for corrosive chemicals, gasses, high pressure steam, flammable solvents, and fine particle size powders.
  • Comply with, coordinate and execute Good Manufacturing Practices and Environmental Affairs, Occupational Health and Safety (EOHS) activities; take corrective actions to mitigate potential EOHS or Quality incidents.
  • Lead projects when needed.

Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree - MAJOR: Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Material Science, Biotechnology or Cosmetic Science
  • 1-2 Years of Consumer Goods Industry Experience Preferred (Asset)
  • 1-2 Years of Functional Experience
