5001 Body Design & Release Engineer MED

The Body D&R Engineer will be responsible for the engineering, design, development, timing and production release for some of the following functions:

1. Body-in-white / Body closure sheet metal and hinging
2. Fascia/bumper
3. Underbody shield and Wheel liners
4. Cladding & flares
5. Body exterior (moldings, badges, decals and vents)
6. Front Lighting
7. EE & Signal Lighting
8. Fixed Glass/ Wipers
9. Fuel Door components/systems from initial design concept through full volume production.

Minimum Requirements:

1. Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or equivalent
2. 3-5 years of engineering automotive component experience designing and developing on the following: Body in White, Closures, or Exterior Systems
3. Experience designing and developing on the following: Body in White, Closures, or Exterior Systems
4. CAD experience with Unigraphics NX, Catia V5 and Teamcenter in a production release environment BIW (Body in White)
5. Knowledgeable regarding high strength steels/aluminum forming processes, weld parameters and GD&T
6. Experience with OEM or supplier on design and release
7. Experience/knowledge with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R) and validation plans
8. BoM’s creation and edition
9. Knowledge and experience with composites and composite production processes
10. Release experience in both Mechanical and electrical components
11. Working knowledge of designing for EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) and ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) design/prevention
12. Prior exposure to automotive lighting specifications and standards an asset; electronics specifications
13. Experience with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) and/or Reactive Green/Black Belt
14. BIW in-plant launch experience
15. Experience designing and developing injection molding, painting, and decorating plastic Class A components
16. CAE/Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) knowledge
17. Experience leading technical teams successfully across varied levels of management and between OEM and supply base
18. Experience regularly presenting to upper management for issue resolution decisions
19. Knowledge or experience of CAN/LIN bus and circuit analysis
20. Excellent MS Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)
21. CATIA V5 knowledge is a plus
22. Knowledge of Casting and Injection Molding processes is a plus
