This is an exciting opportunity to join a very busy Hereford & WorcestershireChild and Adolescent Mental Health Service requiring flexibility, problemsolving skills and a desire to make a difference. This is a multidisciplinaryteam consisting of Consultant Child psychiatrists, RMNs, psychologists andFamily Therapists. You will be part of the eating disorder service, inputtinginto clinical pathways and supporting Children and Young People experiencing aneating disorder whilst providing specialist advice and consultation on systemicformulations and practice to CAMHS colleagues. The post holder will be a qualified systemic Family therapist,providing specialist systemic psychotherapy services to children, young peopleand their families and consultation to the professional network bringing asystemic perspective to all aspects of the work. You will have a proven abilityto liaise and work in collaboration with other relevant agencies according tothe needs of the young person.

This isfull time post, but we would consider applicants looking for part time.

Identify, analyse, and interpret complexclinical facts.

Use well developed interpersonal andcommunication skills to communicate highly sensitive information andpotentially distressing decisions to clients and colleagues in contexts ofchallenging behaviour.

Work autonomously and as a member of the multidisciplinary team providing generic and specialist systemic psychotherapy assessments, therapy, care planning and interventions.

Provide specialist advice and consultation on systemic formulations and practice to CAMHS colleagues and in family therapyteamwork with own workplace.

Represent Family Therapy atstrategic level meetings within and across agencies on issues relating tofamily therapy.

Take responsibility forinitiating and coordinating the work programme for the Family Therapy Clinicwithin own workplace.

Contribute to clinical teams, both multidisciplinary and undiscipline through the development of appropriateand collaborative care plans.

Providespecialist mental health and specialist systemic psychotherapy

and familytherapy services to the CAMHS Eating Disorder Service,

participating fully inthe work of the multi-disciplinary team and bringing

a systemic perspective andexpertise to all aspects of this work

Providespecialist systemic assessments of clients and their families

referred to theservice based upon the appropriate use of specialist

clinical skills withclients, family members and others involved in the

clients care

Beresponsible for implementing a range of systemic psychotherapeutic

interventions for individuals, carers, families, adjusting and refining

systemic formulations as appropriate and drawing upon a wide range of

models,approaches and techniques within systemic practice and

maintaining a number ofprovisional hypotheses

Attend team MDT, formulation, clinical supervision; providespecialist

systemic consultation

Support our new ED-ISH Intensive home visiting service withinCEDS.

• Entry level Masters equivalent dual qualifications and experience
• Social welfare profession e.g. social worker/nurse/psychologist or AFT agreed equivalent plus
• Masters qualification in Systemic Psychotherapy or AFT accredited equivalent (usually 4 years academic study, assessed clinical training and supervised practice including the full range of models within systemic practice and life span development)
• Eligible for UKCP registration
• I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.
• Training in other relevant therapeutic modalities

• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English in both verbal and written formats.
• Ability to identify and employ mechanisms of clinical governance as appropriate, to support and maintain clinical practice in the face of regular exposure to highly emotive material and challenging behaviour.
• Skills in using complex methods of specialist systemic assessment, intervention, and clinical management in a range of contexts frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration and maintaining a restricted position for long periods.
• Ability to exercise autonomous responsibility making clinical judgments in highly complex, challenging, and emotive situations interpreting Trust policies and working within professional guidelines.
• Ability to provide specialist therapeutic packages of care regarding a range of mental health problems within a tier 3 service.
• Ability to contribute to research, audit, teaching, and training.
• Ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to provide specialist advice and consultation on systemic formulations and practice to colleagues in other disciplines.
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
• Skills in liaison with other agencies and in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
• Ability to work in complex situations, to manage risk and deal sensitively with stress.
• Ability to maintain high standards of record keeping including electronic data entry and recording.
• Skills in presentation and ability to use a variety of multi-media materials.
• Ability to conduct research projects and audit.
• Ability to use supervision effectively.
• Ability to identify and employ mechanisms of clinical governance as appropriate, to support and maintain clinical practice in the face of regular exposure to highly emotive material and challenging behaviour.
• Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise and keep high standards of record keeping.
• Physical skills for manipulation in use of video equipment/IT

• Relevant practice in first profession plus clinical experience as above
• Experience of working with children, young people, and their families
• Some experience of working with different client groups
• Experience of maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and threat of physical abuse
• Experience of working in a family therapy team
• Experience of working with eating disorders
• Experience of working in a CAMHS setting

• Ability to contribute to the development and evaluation of the teams operational policies and services.
• Broad knowledge of relevant theories and practice in child development and child protection including relevant legislation in the field of mental health, children, and families
• Knowledge of ethical issues and commitment to anti-discriminatory practice
• Knowledge of research design, methodology and data analysis
• Specialist knowledge and experience of working with a specific client group or mental health presentation.
• Knowledge of current developments in CAMHS

• Able to meet the travel requirements of the post.
• Ability to build constructive relationships with warmth and empathy using excellent communication skills.
