A permanent opportunity to join Disney's dedicated and successful Consumer Products team as a Product Development & Design Associate in our London office.
You will develop on trend and innovative Outdoor toy ranges with Disney's licensee and Direct to Retail partners, providing product design direction, inspiration, and support at every stage.
This role will require you to be onsite 4 days a week with one day working from home.
Work on the approval process from initiation to production in a timely manner, ensuring all product submissions are routed through Disney’s Online Product Approval (OPA) system as per global product integrity guidelines.
Provide product design direction, trend direction, inspiration, trend insights and feedback support to licensees on both 2D application and 3D product submissions driving product quality.
Train and develop all new and existing licensees on the Disney brand, property portfolio, creative assets, and approval systems.
Responsible for ensuring licensees have the appropriate creative assets for product development.
Develop and maintain successful working relationships with licensees and other internal and external partners.
Create product pitches, new product design visuals, and dedicated core design mock ups
Develop and maintain a good knowledge of Disney’s characters, films, properties, heritage and creative assets to assist in their usage on consumer products.
Support the needs of the wider team at regional, local and global level as required including involvement in design projects, as directed.
Ensure products follow corporate policies and legislation
Maintain contemporary knowledge of product design and graphic trends (in relevant category) across the Toys Category, leading brands, and relevant pop culture.
Attend ‘inspiration’ trips to broaden understanding of the EMEA marketplace, seeking out ideas and new creative solutions in order to better understand the industry and drive innovation and creativity
Attend Partner meetings to discuss existing ranges, new potential future ranges, and product innovations.
Degree educated in Product Design / Graphic Design, and/or equivalent experience in Toy or Outdoor product industry.
Proven experience creating prototypes or models
Knowledge of trends within the Toy and Outdoor industry and the broader world of design with working knowledge of common manufacturing techniques and their application in production
An ability to effectively communicate ideas visually using CAD computer software (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator) and standard sketching techniques
Strong 2D & 3D design and conceptual skills
Presentation skills with the ability to effectively present design ideas to internal/external partners at all levels
Understanding of production techniques and graphic applications with an understanding of colour and shape, preferred
Character illustration experience beneficial
Computer literate including Mac OSX, Adobe Creative Suite, and MS Office
