Waste Manager Wanted.

About the role:

We are seeking a proactive and organised Waste Manager to lead and manage waste operations effectively, ensuring safe and compliant handling, disposal, and recycling processes. The ideal applicant will have a strong background in waste management, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to promoting environmental sustainability. This role involves overseeing a diverse team, coordinating with external partners, and ensuring all waste management activities align with regulatory and safety standards.

This opportunity is based with an Award-winning Recycling Plant that produces a quality recycled aggregate and sand product from an end of waste process from road cleaning services within the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operations Management: Supervise day-to-day waste collection, segregation, and disposal activities to ensure efficient operations.
2. Compliance and Safety: Ensure all waste handling and disposal activities comply with local and government policies as well as health and safety standards.
3. Team Leadership: Manage, train, and support waste management staff, fostering a culture of safety and efficiency.
4. Process Optimisation: Identify opportunities to improve waste management processes, focusing on cost efficiency, sustainability, and waste reduction.
5. Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of waste volumes, disposal methods, incidents, and regulatory compliance.
6. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to meet waste disposal and recycling targets.

Day to Day overview:

1. You will oversee the management of WAMITAB and EA Permit requirements, ensuring compliance with legislation in the transportation, handling, and disposal of waste.
2. Oversee waste strategy, future-proofing the waste operations.
3. Management of plant health and safety and quality processes.
4. When required, attend site visits with the Business Development Team to promote the recycling operation.
5. Collaborate with the plant operatives to optimise plant operations and ensure that KPI's are achieved.
6. With the support of the Operations Head, you will develop and implement processes and ensure they are followed, driving improvement and efficiency.
7. Working with the Operations Head, you will formulate and control budgets for waste disposal and manage plant budget and drive cost savings.
8. Provide reports on monthly KPI's for Directors.
9. You will oversee plant operatives and the transport team with incoming and outgoing loads and resources.

Key Skills and Qualifications Required:

1. WAMITAB Level 4 Medium Risk Operator Competence for Non-Hazardous Waste Treatment and Transfer is essential.
2. CPC Operators Licence - Desirable but not essential.
3. Full UK Driving Licence.
4. Interpersonal skills will be required in conflict resolution.
5. You will have a strong understanding of the Waste Management industry.
6. Up to date with current Environmental Agency legislation.
7. Computer Literate with Microsoft Office.
8. You will be able to work within a close-knit team.
9. Organised, positive, and driven.
