An opportunity has come up to join our nursing team in the gynaecology outpatients as a Urogynaecology Specialist Nurse. You will be part of the urogynaecology service and wider gynaecology nursing team.

The successful candidate will receive support and guidance from both the medical, nursing and multidisciplinary team, whilst providing evidence-based, personalised care with a willingness to learn and expand your knowledge in this specialist area.

You will be working in collaboration with the urogynaecology team to advise on an appropriate treatment plan, ensure a positive impact on the experience of patients and carers, and develop evidence-based clinical nursing practice in line with current research and guidelines.

The ideal candidate will have previous gynaecology experience and a commitment to women's health, be enthusiastic, highly motivated, and willing to support the provision of the highest quality patient care.

This is a secondment opportunity for 12 months; for the right candidate, we will consider job share and some flexibility in working patterns around service needs. Please speak to your line manager for approval before applying for this role.

Main Duties of the Job

The post holder will be based in the gynaecology outpatient department within Royal Derby Hospital.

The post holder will be expected to contribute at an advanced level to a specialist urogynaecology nursing service for women with bladder dysfunction alongside the existing Urogynaecology team, including Urogynaecology Clinical Nurse Specialists and Urogynaecology Consultants.

You will develop clinical expertise in all aspects of care for urogynaecology patients, together with the Urogynaecology Consultants. You will become an autonomous practitioner effectively coordinating and delivering an expert nursing service within the specialist area with a view to managing your own nurse-led outpatient clinics. This would include vaginal pessary, bladder retraining, patient education/catheter care, ISC training, TWOC, management of prolapse, and assisting with urodynamic and Bulkamid clinics.

Act as a role model at all times and ensure that all team members and others visiting the area give a high priority to policies and procedures relating to infection control in order to maintain a safe clinical environment for everyone.

Interview date: 28 April 2025
