About the role...

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and engaging Transport Planning Team Manager to join our successful team at our Screwfix contract based in Stafford.

This is a rewarding position that will expect the successful individual to act in a proactive and supportive capacity to ensure continuous improvement of the end-to-end planning strategy.

Please note this is a 12 Month Secondment. Working hours are 08:00am - 16:00pm Monday to Friday.

What you'll be doing...

1. You will be required to generate a deliverable plan for the maintenance and growth of the contract and provide support to the Transport Planning Manager with focus on key areas such as: mileage reduction, number of routes & maximising driver utilisation.
2. Be able to interface with varying levels of the business ranging from internal Site Leaders / Customer Facing Unit Directors to Trade Counter Managers and Driver Colleagues.
3. Assist the Transport Planning Manager and analyse store sales data vs fleet capacity ensuring maximum in-store availability for the end customer.
4. Analyse planning forecast data to advise on fleet procurement plans with recommendation on trailer type and specification to optimise the network plan.
5. Manage the transport planning team with their utilisation of the Paragon planning system to produce optimal schedules to meet the customers demand.
6. Consider decisions that affect budget in conjunction with the finance and operations functions.

About You...

1. Should have successful practical experience of supervisory or management work within a transport operation.
2. Excellent communication skills and confidence in dealing with all levels of the business.
3. Excellent organisational skills and be able to demonstrate a commitment to delivering consistent quality in a time-constrained operation.
4. Have sound analytical skills and apply logic in a fast-moving environment.
5. Exhibit a high degree of flexibility and be able to work as part of a team.
6. Be a proven motivator of staff, and be able to develop a team, ensuring that they are well informed, motivated and managed effectively to achieve personal goals as well as operational KPI's.
