Corporate Tax Manager

Base Location: Birmingham plus network of 20 offices nationally:

Our Midlands CTAC team is a fast-growing part of our Tax practice with a diverse client base ranging from PE-backed, owner managed and family businesses through to UK listed and multinationals.

Working in our successful CTAC business will give you the opportunity to develop relationships with clients as you manage the tax compliance process together with getting involved on various advisory projects such as business reorganisations, tax authority enquiries, pre/post transaction reorganisations, refinancing, cash repatriation, interest deductibility and the impact of global fiscal change (BEPS Pillar 2).

What will you be doing?

  1. Managing teams, coaching, and developing staff.
  2. The successful candidate will be able to build strong relationships, develop junior staff, provide excellent client service, and identify business development opportunities.
  3. Be market facing with allocated clients and target organisations.
  4. Liaising with the client service team and with colleagues in other tax disciplines as well as the audit and accounting discipline to provide a co-ordinated service to the client.
  5. Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients and identifying leads for new work.
  6. Ensuring that clients are kept up to date on developments within the corporate tax world that may affect their businesses.
  7. Hold conversations with stakeholders in the markets and be capable of introducing relevant specialists from across the firm.
  8. Lead by example with client relationships, technical quality and service delivery.
  9. Actively promote team and personal profile to internal networks to promote collaboration and increase internal leads.
  10. Being involved in business development and proposal activity.
  11. Managing our engagement quality and risk processes and client financials.
  12. Being a role model for KPMG's values.

What will you need to do it?

  1. ACA, CA, CTA, ACCA or equivalent qualified with a strong track record in UK corporate tax.
  2. Strong interpersonal skills in addition to strong oral and written communication skills.
  3. Display technical strength in our specialist markets above.
  4. Sustains a high level of drive, shows enthusiasm and a positive attitude that translates across the team.
  5. Displays an inclusive, collaborative approach and operates in a respectful manner with colleagues, clients, and the wider community.
  6. Brings insight and effectively applies knowledge to business and client problems.
  7. Communicates with impact, in a way that is open, honest, consistent, and clear.
  8. Builds the reputation of KPMG through the quality of work, knowledge, and experience.
