Are you a qualified Family Therapist looking to make a meaningful impact? The Nelson Trust is seeking a dedicated Systemic Family Therapist to join our Women’s Community Services team at the Gloucester Women’s Centre.

In this role, you will provide systemic family psychotherapy to women and their families dealing with substance misuse, abuse, and other complex needs. Your responsibilities will include conducting systemic assessments, delivering evidence-based interventions, and managing a caseload of family therapy clients. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support families in crisis and contribute to their long-term recovery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide highly-skilled systemic interventions for families of women with multiple unmet complex needs, including substance misuse, abuse, and persistent mental health issues.
  • Conduct in-depth assessments of families and formulate both short-term and long-term crisis planning.
  • Deliver evidence-based and formulation-driven systemic perspectives to multidisciplinary risk management, care planning, and therapy.
  • Manage a complex caseload as the family therapist within a multidisciplinary team and facilitate groups where appropriate.
  • Monitor clinical progress through regular reviews of systemic treatment.
  • Engage and work with women and their families with a range of needs, drawing upon your wealth of theoretical and practical knowledge.
  • Contribute to service developments within the Therapies Team and the wider service.
Requirements:
  • Formal Family Therapist qualification and BACP registration.
  • Experience in working with families dealing with substance misuse, domestic violence, and mental health issues.
  • Knowledge of child protection procedures, safeguarding, and relevant legislation.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with families, practitioners, and social care.
  • Empathy and understanding toward families facing challenges.
  • Ability to work in a coordinated and collaborative manner.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.

Join us in our mission to support and empower women and their families. If you are empathetic, resilient, and committed to providing high-quality therapeutic interventions, we would love to hear from you.

Due to the nature of the work carried out in our Women’s Centres, this role is restricted to female applicants only in accordance with the provisions of the occupational requirement (Equality Act 2010, pursuant to Schedule 9, Part 1).
