To work within the Speech & Language Therapy Team to provide an efficient and effective service in line with the guidance of the Clinical Lead Speech & Language Therapists, the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists (RCSLT), the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

To manage own caseload of inpatients (with supervision from senior Speech & Language Therapists) who have an acquired communication and/or swallowing disorder as a result of a range of medical conditions (including stroke, neurological, respiratory and medical elderly).

Main duties of the job

You'll be part of a team of clinicians working in stroke and neurology and get experience working within a close multi-disciplinary team. Post-graduate dysphagia training and competencies will be supported and as part of your rotations you will have on-going opportunities to observe and support our SLT-led Videofluoroscopy clinics and our established and developing FEES service.

You will be joining a dynamic, supportive and forward thinking department in a large tertiary teaching centre with first class facilities. You will have access to highly specialist colleagues in areas such as stroke, elderly medicine, head & neck, neurosurgery and critical care.

We will support you with completion of your NQP competencies, ensuring regular individual supervision as well as peer support and other CPD opportunities. We pride ourselves on supporting flexible working patterns. The HUTH trust offers regular access to well-being activities and counselling services.
