Position: Speech and Language Therapist 9 Months Maternity Cover
Reports to: Supervisory SLT Lead Clinician
Salary: £27,711 - £41,286 (Term Time only)

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our multi-disciplinary Therapy team on a temporary maternity cover at an SEN College.
SLTs play a crucial role in supporting students and families with specialist interventions, including high- and low-tech AAC, signing systems, and social skills development. The successful candidate will manage a caseload of students with complex communication needs and potential dysphagia.

Job Purpose:

1. Assess and provide therapy for students/service users with complex needs, collaborating within a trans-disciplinary team.
2. Integrate therapy targets into the curriculum and maintain accurate records.
3. Work closely with carers, staff, and external agencies.
4. Provide training, supervision, and mentoring for staff and students.
5. Use Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) to inform clinical decisions.
6. Contribute to audits, research, and service development.

Main Responsibilities:

Clinical:

1. Deliver safe, effective, evidence-based therapy interventions.
2. Assess and develop speech, language, and communication plans.
3. Manage a caseload, producing reports and therapy plans with measurable outcomes.
4. Apply specialist interventions in AAC, literacy, dysphagia, SCERTS, behavioral management, and mental health.
5. Communicate complex information effectively to students, carers, and professionals.

Organisational:

1. Prioritise caseloads, meet deadlines, and manage administrative tasks.
2. Collaborate across PHF services for consistency.
3. Deliver training to carers and staff, supervise therapy interventions, and mentor junior therapists.
4. Participate in risk assessments, policy development, and quality improvement.
5. Monitor equipment and support SLT student placements.
6. Engage in CPD, supervision, and performance reviews.
