Freelance Site Supervisor (2 Positions)
Location: Brixworth, Northamptonshire
Contract: Freelance - Inside IR35 (Initial 2-month contract, potential for extension)
Working Hours: 07:30 - 17:00
Rate: Competitive (Inside IR35)

About the Role

We are looking for two experienced Freelance Site Supervisors to oversee the delivery of local authority civil engineering schemes for West Northamptonshire Council. This is an exciting short-term contract, ideal for professionals with a strong background in highways maintenance and civil engineering projects.

The role involves supervising works such as:

1. Footway reconstruction
2. Carriageway resurfacing
3. Surface treatments
4. Drainage improvements
5. Traffic signals & structures repairs

You will be responsible for ensuring health & safety compliance, managing site operations, and maintaining quality standards on live public highways.

Key Responsibilities

1. Ensure Health & Safety compliance for all site activities.
2. Supervise and coordinate construction works in line with contract requirements.
3. Support Principal Contractor duties under CDM regulations.
4. Implement Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Safe Systems of Work.
5. Conduct site inductions & safety briefings.
6. Issue permits for hot works, excavations, and temporary works.
7. Perform site inspections and report incidents or near misses.
8. Monitor site progress, resources, and any variations.
9. Maintain accurate site records (manpower, plant, materials, etc.).
10. Ensure work meets design specifications and quality standards.

Requirements

Essential Certifications & Qualifications

1. SSSTS or SMSTS (CITB Supervisors Safety Training Scheme)
2. NRSWA Supervisor (Street Works)
3. 12D Lantra Traffic Management
4. Temporary Works Supervisor
5. First Aid Certification
6. Full UK Driving Licence (clean)

Skills & Experience

1. Proven experience supervising civil engineering/highways projects
2. Strong leadership and ability to manage subcontractors & direct teams
3. IT literate (MS Office & order management systems)
4. Excellent communication skills for liaising with clients & stakeholders
5. Working knowledge of CDM regulations & NEC4 contracts
