Job description

Location - Rudie’s Kitchen - fully on-site

A bit about the role:

As a Manufacturing Site Scheduler, you’ll be the backbone of our production operations, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently. Your day will start with reviewing production progress, stock positions & demand using this information to plan upcoming production orders to balance the demand / supply picture. You’ll be making real-time decisions to keep production flowing, collaborating with key teams across the business to ensure that everything is in place with our Demand Manager.

Throughout the day, you’ll issue production orders, and communicate with manufacturing teams to keep things on track. If a line goes down, materials are delayed, or production targets shift, you’ll be the one to pivot the plan, problem-solve, and find solutions that keep us moving forward.

This is a fast-paced, hands-on role where no two days are the same, and your ability to anticipate challenges and adapt will be essential. If you love problem-solving, coordinating multiple moving parts, and keeping things running like a well-oiled machine, this is the role for you.

In this role, you can expect to…

Production Planning & Scheduling
  • Develop detailed daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on demand forecasts and resource availability.
  • Adjust schedules as needed to respond to production bottlenecks, equipment downtime, material shortages, or shifting business needs.
  • Track real-time production progress and proactively identify scheduling conflicts or inefficiencies.
  • Work closely with Production and People teams to ensure adequate staffing levels and machine capacity utilisation.
  • Collaborate with Procurement and Supply Chain teams to ensure timely availability of raw materials and packaging supplies.
  • Monitor inventory levels and minimise production delays due to material shortages.
  • Balance workloads across multiple production lines while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Serve as the key point of contact between Manufacturing, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Technical teams to align production schedules with business priorities.
  • Keep all stakeholders updated on production timelines, potential delays, and resolution plans.
  • Work closely with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure smooth coordination of raw ingredients and finished goods movement.
Performance Tracking & Continuous Improvement
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production output, cycle times, and efficiency rates.
  • Identify trends in scheduling, highlight opportunities for process improvement, and recommend optimisations.
  • Use data-driven insights to forecast future production needs and improve long-term scheduling accuracy.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles to enhance scheduling efficiency and minimise waste.

A bit about you

  • Experience in production scheduling and / or manufacturing planning is essential.
  • Technical skills in manufacturing planning software (ERP, MRP, SAP, MS Project, or similar).
  • Strong analytical abilities to assess data, identify scheduling trends, and optimise production plans.
  • Exceptional organisation & time management skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Great communication & collaboration skills to work effectively across departments.
  • A proactive mindset - you don’t just react to scheduling challenges, you anticipate and solve them.
  • Pragmatic, adaptable, resilient and humble.
  • Due to the nature of this role, full on-site presence would be required.
  • Loves dogs (naturally).

A bit about Butternut

At Butternut, the mission is to deliver health and happiness to dogs and their humans all over the world. In order to do just that, we need a team of forward-thinking, driven people who love dogs as much as we do.

Located in Doncaster, Rudie's Kitchen and Ace's Pantry are where all the magic happens, so to speak. It's where the tasty Butternut meals and treats will be gently cooked, using human-quality ingredients because, the way we see it, we wouldn't serve food to dogs that we wouldn't be happy to eat ourselves. At Butternut, we believe dogs deserve better, and if that's something you think too, we want to hear from you.

Butternut has come a long way since Kev & Dave (co-founders) hand-delivered the first Butternut Box, and we are now looking for brilliant people to join the team for this next part of the story.

Are you up for the challenge?

A bit about what we offer

  • Unlock a £500 annual budget for personal learning and development.
  • Get discounted Private Medical Insurance with Vitality Healthcare and dental care with Bupa.
  • Funded Sabbatical policy after 5 years of service.
  • Enhanced primary caregiver policy.
  • Satisfy your taste buds with subsidised food from a variety of street food vans, and of course, pay day pizza!
  • Treat your furry friend with an employee discount on Butternut Box.
