Description

Leidos has a career opportunity for a Material Planner on our Procurement Strategy team working from home in the Aberdeen Proving Grounds / Edgewood Maryland area, supporting the Army’s Common Hardware Systems program where Leidos provides seamless and consolidated procurement of Commercial Information Technology (CommIT). The role of the Material Planner is to conduct procurement actions including using the Leidos procurement systems to request and provide analysis of quotes to satisfy customer requirements. The Planner is a key function in Supply Chain Strategy and Operations within Leidos. Typical duties include supplier contract negotiation and administration; supplier development, sourcing, and supply-base diversity and cost management; supplier relationship management; supplier-contract regulatory compliance, DFAR Business System (Purchasing) compliance, and supplier-contract risk management.

IMPACT: Works to achieve day-to-day objectives with limited impact beyond the scope of own work area/project team. Work is of limited scope, typically on smaller, less complex projects or task-related activities. Work is closely supervised.

COMPLEXITY: Identifies, defines and addresses problems which are not immediately evident but typically not complex. Problems are typically within a narrow scope and are solved through drawing from prior experiences or standard procedures and basic analysis.

COMMUNICATION: Communicates with peers to explain facts, basic analysis, processes and practices related to area.

LEADERSHIP & TALENT MANAGEMENT: Requires limited use and/or application of basic principles, theories, and concepts. Utilizes limited knowledge of industry practices and standards.

TYPICAL EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Typically requires a BA degree or equivalent experience and less than 2 years prior relevant experience.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Works with Program team to ensure a streamlined procurement process of materials against program requirements.
  2. Executes micro-purchases with Leidos issued credit card and associated weekly administrative tasks.
  3. Candidate must have the ability to work with programs in generating material requirements and providing the necessary support of acquisition plans from start to finish.
  4. Maintains reports and monitors material movement throughout manufacturing and inventory sequences.
  5. Coordinates forecasts, workload, expediting, and acquisition priority with commodity/category team leadership.
  6. Engages supply chain (vendor to manufacturing) to determine optimal acquisition strategy.
  7. There will also be opportunities to work special projects with multi-functional teams. The most successful candidate will have a desire to be a part of a team, enjoy hard work and learning on the job from a team of other talented professionals.

Basic Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain / Logistics, Business Admin, Finance, Engineering or related field.
  2. Excellent computer skills (Excel/Pivot tables and PowerPoint).
  3. Effective verbal and written communications skills.
  4. The ability to work under tough time constraints and prioritize multiple tasks.
  5. U.S. Citizenship is required.
  6. Secret Security Clearance or ability to obtain one is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Supply Chain Management experience.
  2. MRP knowledge or experience.
  3. Understanding of US Government acquisition laws and regulations (FAR).
  4. Warehouse Operations.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $44,200.00 - $79,900.00
