We are currently seeking a Senior Content Designer to join the Marketing and Applicant Communications team based in the Future Students Directorate. In this exciting role you'll be responsible for collaborating with other colleagues across the University, using your content design skills to create user-focused content that is accurate, accessible and engaging.
Working closely with the Web Manager and line managing the Web Content Coordinators, you'll ensure workflow is effectively balanced between responding to reactive web updates, scheduling cyclical updates and scoping and delivering enhancement projects.
You will play a crucial part in managing the standard of our website's content and user experience, particularly around the needs of prospective students. You'll build relationships with stakeholders and subject matter experts, then use content design best practice to write, edit and refine web pages so that they are accessible and meet the needs of the user and the University.
A key part of the role is being able to balance reactive and planned cyclical content updates with pro-active improvement projects and content audits that aim to continually enhance the performance of the website. You will take the lead on our course listings and course content on the University website and the UCAS website ensuring they are always up to date and accurate.
You'll be happy to share your knowledge and insight with other members of staff, providing training sessions or workshops where necessary.
You will have excellent communication and relationship building skills to regularly collaborate with subject matter experts across the University, such as course leaders and other professional colleagues, to create engaging and compelling content.
You'll ideally have previous line management experience and used to managing both your own workload and that of a small team. You will take responsibility for tone of voice, content quality, accuracy, accessibility and compliance, regularly checking content performance to ensure we are meeting business objectives.
Using your good knowledge and experience of web content best practice and understanding of SEO tools, analytics and search data you'll be able to write and edit content that is concise, well-structured and audience focused.
The nature of the role means that some evening and weekend working may be required.
The arrangement of working hours will be agreed in advance with the post's line manager.
