Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Safety Manager to lead and manage the safety program for the construction of a garage within an operational substation. This role requires expertise in construction safety, OSHA compliance, and risk management, with a focus on ensuring a safe working environment for all project personnel. The ideal candidate will have experience developing and managing safety programs, coupled with hands-on knowledge of safety management in construction projects. Local candidates are to ensure seamless coordination and availability.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Safety Program Management:
    • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive safety program tailored to the specific needs of the substation garage construction project.
    • Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures.
  2. Compliance and Training:
    • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and local safety regulations.
    • Deliver safety training sessions to on-site personnel, emphasizing substation-specific construction safety protocols.
    • Organize and lead regular safety meetings and toolbox talks to address ongoing and emerging safety concerns.
  3. Incident Prevention and Response:
    • Monitor site activities to prevent accidents and near-misses through proactive interventions.
    • Develop and execute emergency response plans for the project site.
    • Investigate incidents, document findings, and implement preventative measures.
  4. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain detailed records of safety training, inspections, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
    • Prepare and submit reports to project stakeholders and regulatory bodies as required.
  5. Collaboration:
    • Partner with project leadership, contractors, and site personnel to foster a culture of safety awareness.
    • Serve as the point of contact for safety-related matters with local authorities and compliance agencies.
Qualifications:
  1. Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing a safety program.
    • At least 2 years of experience on construction projects, preferably involving substations or similar high-risk environments.
  2. Certification/Designation:
    • Relevant safety certifications (e.g., OSHA 30-Hour, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or similar).
  3. Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and best practices in construction safety.
    • Excellent communication and leadership skills to effectively manage teams and foster a safety-first mindset.
  4. Availability:
    • Must be available to work on-site and actively engage with the project team.
    • Preference will be given to local candidates to ensure timely responsiveness.
