This is an exciting opportunity to join a rotational scheme with an excellent reputation, a broad range of experiences within a forward-thinking progressive Therapies department with supervision from expert clinicians, clinical academics and clinical leaders.

The rotation scheme offers a structured career progression pathway and includes rotations in the following areas:

  1. Neurorehabilitation – acute, a tertiary rehab centre, hyperacute stroke ward and early supported discharge after stroke
  2. In-patient and out-patient trauma within the Major Trauma Centre
  3. Intensive care – general, surgical, cardiothoracic and neurosurgical
  4. Acute medicine, frailty intervention in ED
  5. Acute general and vascular surgery
  6. Womens and mens health, MSK outpatients
  7. Oncology and Haematology

JOB PURPOSE

To act as an autonomous practitioner, providing physiotherapeutic interventions of the highest standard, in alignment with national and professional guidelines, working across a range of disciplines and settings, including (but not limited to):

  1. Trauma orthopaedics and plastics
  2. Respiratory medicine
  3. Intensive care
  4. Acute medical, surgical and vascular
  5. Neurosciences and stroke
  6. Neurorehabilitation
  7. Women’s and Men’s Health
  8. Gerontology
  9. Oncology, Haematology and Macmillan therapy team

JOB SUMMARY

  1. To assess and treat own caseload of patients, and maintain associated records as an autonomous practitioner with support from senior staff
  2. To communicate with the relevant members of the multidisciplinary team, other health professionals, patients and carers with regard to the delivery of patient focused care
  3. To participate in departmental continuous professional development, departmental education and training, audit and evidence-based projects
  4. To undertake all necessary verbal and written documentation required for patient care
  5. To actively participate in appraisal and supervision processes
  6. To be responsible for the maintenance and development of own Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
  7. To assist in the supervision of physiotherapy assistants and students
  8. To participate in extended hour working over a seven day period, including overnight emergency on call and weekend working
