Main duties of the job
JOB PURPOSE
To act as an autonomous practitioner, providing physiotherapeutic interventions of the highest standard, in alignment with national and professional guidelines, working across a range of disciplines and settings, including (but not limited to):
- Trauma orthopaedics and plastics
- Respiratory medicine
- Intensive care
- Acute medical, surgical and vascular
- Neurosciences and stroke
- Neurorehabilitation
- Women’s and Men’s Health
- Oncology, Haematology and Macmillan therapy team
JOB SUMMARY
- To assess and treat own caseload of patients, and maintain associated records as an autonomous practitioner with support from senior staff
- To communicate with the relevant members of the multidisciplinary team, other health professionals, patients and carers with regard to the delivery of patient focused care
- To participate in departmental continuous professional development, departmental education and training, audit and evidence-based projects
- To undertake all necessary verbal and written documentation required for patient care
- To actively participate in appraisal and supervision processes
- To be responsible for the maintenance and development of own Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
- To assist in the supervision of physiotherapy assistants and students
- To participate in extended hour working over a seven day period, including overnight emergency on call and weekend working
Person specification
- HCPC registered Physiotherapist
- Experience (via placement or employment) in majority of core areas of Physiotherapy
- Able to demonstrate credible application of clinical knowledge and skills relevant to working as a Physiotherapist in an acute NHS trust
- Ability to present written information in a clear and logical manner
- Credible evidence of the ability to prioritise, delegate and organise work
- Credible experience of working within a MDT
- Recognises own learning needs and evidence of self managing learning
- Demonstrates an understanding of clinical governance relevant to the job role
