Purchaser (Chemical / Manufacturing)

Monday - Friday Days (Monday- Thursday 8-5pm & Friday 8.30am-2pm).

Bridgwater - commutable from - Chard, Cullompton, Honiton, Tiverton, Burnham-on-Sea, Taunton, Glastonbury, Weston-Super-Mare, Yeovil, Minehead, Clevedon.

In this role, you will report to the Supply Chain Manager and as the Purchaser, you will be responsible for the day-to-day execution of all procurement activities.

Responsibilities:

  1. Day-to-day execution of procurement activities including managing existing & identifying new vendor relationships, price negotiations & contract management.
  2. Replenishment - order placing and associated progress chasing of finished products sourced from third parties.
  3. Setting up of new supplier accounts and maintenance of vendor pricing with the Company's ERP system.
  4. Support the Operations and Quality functions in the investigation of supplier complaints and non-conformances; and in the measurement of the performance of key vendors.
  5. Support the continuous improvement of supply chain activities within the local UK and wider regional organization.

The person:
  1. Suitably qualified with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a Procurement role, preferably within a manufacturing and/or chemical industry environment.
  2. Demonstrable track record of managing multiple vendors across a large and complex product item portfolio.
  3. Strong negotiation skills and demonstrable experience of delivering cost reductions by developing positive working relationships with multiple vendors.
  4. Excellent planning, organisational and task prioritisation skills, with the ability to self-prioritise own workload.
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all organisational levels.
  6. Self-motivated, with the ability to develop strong collaborative working relationships with both internal and external customers to deliver organisational goals.
