This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Operations Team at Bury Council. The service provides a wide range of services for the residents of Bury such as the upkeep of roads, pavements, street lighting, bridges and other structures.

Reporting to the Assistant Director (Operations), as a Project Officer in our Operations Team you will:

  • Provide effective and comprehensive project support by working as part of a team, and contribute to excellent service delivery through the provision of more specialist/technical administration duties.
  • Support the lead Officer in respect of Section 106 funds and additional monies, ensuring funds are allocated accordingly to improve the leisure/outdoor/green space offer across the neighbourhoods of Bury.
  • Support the lead in the delivery and implementation of projects and programmes through planning, design, development, implementation, evaluation and stakeholder management, which contribute to the wellbeing of people in the Borough.
  • Support project teams from across the Department and Council to implement and deliver major and minor projects.
  • Support the implementation of external funding bids including grant applications, financial management, grant claims and liaising with community groups regarding community led projects.

What makes you our ideal Project Officer?

  • Appropriate financial and/or project management qualification.
  • Experience of successfully managing and delivering a wide range of projects, to a structured project management process.
  • Experience of accounting for budgets, monitoring spend and providing financial and statistical information to others.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to initiate and develop positive and effective working relationships.

Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the usual business working week.
