Production Assistant

Location: Blackmill

Our client is a market-leading and international supplier of aluminium food packaging, renowned for innovation, quality and service. As they continue with their ambitious growth plans, they are seeking like-minded individuals to support and enhance their team on an exciting journey.

As part of the Production Support Team, you will have responsibility for the running of machinery and equipment. You will be working closely with the Shift Manager to achieve quality, production, and efficiency targets.

You will support the efficient production of products throughout the manufacturing process, adhering to all standards, meeting and exceeding customer and business expectations.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and repair press tooling to achieve daily production plan adherence and efficiency targets
  • Assess, diagnose and address production issues
  • Complete fault-finding activities and propose solutions
  • Maintain accurate records of completed tasks
  • Support your colleagues to ensure maximum effectiveness
  • Report any press maintenance issues or concerns
  • Follow the escalation process when actions are not resolving identified issues or concerns
  • Ensure housekeeping within work area is maintained at the highest-level ensuring adherence to BRC accreditation and standards at all times
  • Ensure and maintain a safe working environment by adherence to HSE requirements
  • Complete Hazard Tags where required
  • Support continuous improvement activities and initiatives
  • To carry out or assist with any duties as deemed necessary in connection with the business

Knowledge / Experience:

  • Proven experience in a fast-paced manufacturing production support or maintenance capacity
  • Manufacturing operational background with at least 1 year within a technical / mechanical maintenance role
  • Experience in the service and general repair of tooling
  • Experience of fault finding and quality improvements in a production environment
  • Ability to be agile and work within a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work on own initiate as well as part of a team
  • Demonstrates a good sense of priorities, structures workload effectively and delivers consistently good results
  • Attention to detail in key areas across all aspects of this role
  • Flexible and adaptable to the changing requirements of the business
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under time pressures
  • Good communication skills
