We are the Strategy, Planning and Corporate Affairs Division, of the Operations and Finance Directorate.

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Planning Manager where you'll help us plan and deliver the systems needed to achieve a healthier Wales through the delivery of our Long Term Strategy.

Main duties of the job

As Planning Manager, you'll be directly involved in making a difference to the health of the people of Wales by managing the delivery of key areas of work that help Public Health Wales achieve its Long Term Strategy (2023-35).

You'll work in a team responsible for the delivery of our three year Strategic Plan and ensuring that we work collaboratively across the organisation to develop a balanced plan that meets the needs of our key stakeholders.

You will have the opportunity to lead and manage key organisational-level projects working with a range of colleagues from across the organisation.

You'll use your proven people and planning skills to develop and implement ways that we are working effectively with our partners across the public health system to deliver our Long Term Strategy.

Your excellent written communication skills will be utilised to ensure our plans are accessible and understandable for everyone interested in how we plan to achieve a healthier Wales.

We will also need to quickly digest and summarise key planning guidance, policies and legislation where necessary to ensure our team and our stakeholders understand the implications and actions required.

  • Degree level education or equivalent level of knowledge and skills related to planning/project management
  • Evidence of highly specialised knowledge to support strategy and planning

  • Experience of management and managing successful projects at a senior level.
  • Experience of working with stakeholders at varying levels of seniority and a commitment/proven experience of partnership working
  • Experience of negotiating and influencing others in a positive manner, with confidence to deal with different priorities and differing views to instigate and achieve change and improvement
  • Experience in facilitating the planning and monitoring of directorate planning/service change with varied stakeholder groups
