Job description

HRC Recruitment is delighted to partner exclusively with one of the world s largest and most successful manufacturing businesses in their search for a dynamic, people-focused Payroll Manager. This key leadership position has arisen as part of the company s commitment to operational excellence and employee satisfaction. As a strong people leader, you will be responsible for ensuring the monthly payroll is processed with accuracy and in full compliance with legislative requirements and internal deadlines. The role requires you to work closely with business and external stakeholders to ensure seamless payroll operations and develop the team to consistently meet service levels.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the precise execution of monthly payroll, guaranteeing adherence to legal requirements and timely completion.
  • Handle year-end submissions, such as Form 42, PSA, P11Ds, P60s, and all other mandatory reports.
  • Lead, inspire, and nurture a high-performing payroll team, promoting strong collaboration between payroll and HR.
  • Work closely with Finance to secure monthly payroll approval, ensuring the accuracy of employee and third-party payments.
  • Act as the main point of contact for escalated payroll issues, both within the organization and with external payroll providers.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with employees, management, and unions, enhancing understanding of payroll systems and practices.
  • Offer expert guidance on payroll matters, providing recommendations for system and process enhancements to drive service excellence.
  • Conduct regular internal audits and address any process deficiencies to improve payroll operations.
  • Create and maintain a Payroll Operations Manual, ensuring consistent and effective training for the team to support efficiency.
Key Skills & Experience:
  • Demonstrated expertise in a senior payroll position, emphasizing team leadership and performance management.
  • Comprehensive understanding of payroll regulations, tax laws, and business operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, adept at handling complex payroll challenges and working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Highly organized with a keen eye for detail, ensuring precise and compliant payroll processing.
  • Proactive in driving process enhancements and proficient in managing payroll systems and teams.
  • Capable of thriving under pressure and meeting strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
