Mechanical Design Engineer (SolidWorks)

Our client is recruiting for an exciting Mechanical Design Engineer position, ideally suited for someone fairly new to the sector. As a key member, you will be responsible for producing P&IDs, layouts, and general arrangement drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD Lite, while contributing to the development of a 3D library for standard plant items.

Responsibilities include:

1. Produce drawings in a timely manner and with attention to detail on behalf of the projecting team.
2. Develop 3D library for standard plant items.
3. Liaising with clients on design details - quality control/validation of manufactured designs.
4. Create detailed manufacturing drawings to assist fabrication including general arrangements, part drawings, developments, and templates.
5. Produce piping and steelwork fabrication drawings in the form of Isometrics, general arrangements, and orthographic.
6. Review & check detailed design drawings of piping systems, supports and steelwork in accordance with industry standards, codes and client specifications.
7. Prepare & check bill of materials.
8. Provide technical input during detailed engineering of projects.
9. Provide support and input into the preparation of manufacturing work packs.

About You

1. Excellent working knowledge of SolidWorks; accredited in CSWP/CSWE is beneficial.
2. A good understanding of 2D CAD packages i.e. AutoCAD is desirable.
3. Ideally experience of piping, engineering, water treatment, filtration and tanks and vessels.
4. Attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
