Manufacturing Laboratory Engineer
Full Time
Location: Derby

Why Rolls-Royce?
We have an interesting role for a Manufacturing Laboratory Engineer to join our site in Derby- Rotatives. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering laboratory activities within a manufacturing environment. You will control and develop the special processes required to support the manufacture of components as well as ensure the engineering specifications are satisfied for new part introduction and ongoing manufacture.

What you will be doing:
  • Ensure process compliance to National and International Standards through both the generation of shop floor instructions and participation in audit procedures.
  • Approve process data cards/procedures, process or stage drawings and Methods of Manufacture for domestically manufactured parts and for parts manufactured in the external supply network.
  • Maintain operator training and qualification requirements for specific Special Processes including identification of changes to specification requirements that require subsequent operator training.
  • Compile component specific Rationalised Quality Specifications (RQSC's) and Quality Control Test procedures (QCTP's) for Sensitive and Critical parts.
  • Work independently and in teams to advance specific processes and/or resolve manufacturing problems.
  • Microstructural evaluation and acceptance of test samples from Steel, titanium & Nickel alloy components or test pieces at forging, heat treatment or post machining operations.

  • Qualified to degree level in Materials Science, Metallurgy or an appropriate Engineering discipline is preferred.
