About Our Client

The client is a reputable and established Law Firm based in Birmingham City Centre looking for a Legal Secretary with administration skills and strong experience in dictation typing.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide full secretarial support to fee earners, including diary management, document preparation, and client liaison.
  2. Dictation typing and preparing correspondence, documents, and forms.
  3. Assist in the administration of wills, probate, and trusts, ensuring compliance with legal processes.
  4. Manage correspondence, filing, and maintaining client records.
  5. Handle telephone and email inquiries from clients and external parties.

The Successful Applicant

Requirements:

  1. Proven 1-2 years' experience as a Legal Secretary or Secretary with dictation typing experience.
  2. Excellent typing skills, able to quickly and accurately process legal documents, including correspondence and bills, from manuscript or digital dictation, with minimal supervision.
  3. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize a busy workload.
  4. Experience of Tikit (or similar case management system) and BigHand dictation would be advantageous but not essential.
  5. Good telephone manner; able to take messages from new and existing clients on the telephone with accuracy and pass on in a timely manner.
  6. Excellent IT skills with the ability to pick up new systems quickly.
  7. Displays a can-do, positive attitude to work, and a high degree of self-management.
  8. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a professional telephone manner.
  9. A keen eye for detail and a high level of accuracy in all work.
  10. Ability to work well as part of a team and independently.
