Job description

Humanity and our planet needs a big shift to secure a fair and livable future for all people. Motatos is a different kind of food store; a European grocery e-commerce, aiding the sustainable reform of our food system by giving everyone a chance to save our planet in an effortless way. We partner with food and FMCG companies to save products at risk of going to waste by re-selling them at awesome discounted prices direct to consumers: fun, affordable, and accessible to all. Today, our shops are open in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Germany, Austria and the UK - and more markets will be added as we grow!

Working at Motatos, you will join our fight against food waste and contribute to making the world a better place.

As a Merchandiser at Motatos:
Analytically and commercially minded with a strong e-commerce trading mentality, you will own the CRM activity and site merchandising, to support optimising the product performance on site. This role will support the Merchandise Manager and have direct responsibility for:

  1. Analysis of on-site product performance
  2. Setting up campaigns and promotions
  3. Reporting on promotion and campaign performance
  4. Site categorisation, optimising product placement and customer journey, search and conversion
  5. Publishing products
  6. Optimising pricing and multibuys to drive sales
  7. Owning newsletter activity including daily newsletters, automations and customer segmentation, working closely with the global CRM team

This role will report directly to the UK Region Director and be a key support to the Merchandise Manager.

You will work with key stakeholders in the wider global and market teams, sharing knowledge and insights with peers.

The UK Team at Motatos:

Launched in June last year, the UK business has had a strong start. Since we are in an early rapid growth phase, you will be part of an exciting journey where we are continuously testing, finding new insights and developing the business across our UK brand, customer base and products.

Motatos offers you a social and energising workplace where your creativity and ideas are more than welcome and appreciated. We like to explore, and we are not afraid to try new things. You will get a good combination of ownership, responsibility, and be a leader for the team. We want our team to learn and develop but also have fun at work.

The Motatos UK team consists of 9 people across Buying, Merchandising, Marketing and Operations. We have a WeWork office based in Liverpool Street, and we fully embrace hybrid working between working remotely and in the office.

Together we are building a successful and unique e-commerce company that is contributing to a more sustainable world.

Our humble expectations - we see that you have experience in the following areas:

  1. Currently an experienced Assistant Merchandiser, or Junior merchandiser level
  2. You have at least 2 years of e-commerce merchandising or CRM experience in a fast-paced, digital retail business
  3. You have strong analytical problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn data into actionable insights
  4. Comfortable with being proactive and taking initiative in a start-up environment
  5. Confidence to collaborate and develop strong relationships across the organisation
  6. You have a logical approach to testing & adopting continuous improvement
  7. You are a strong collaborator and communicator

What we offer:

  1. Vitality private healthcare scheme
  2. Pension with 3% Employee & 5% Employer contributions
  3. 30 days holiday per year + Bank Holidays
  4. Up to 5 extra rest days per year
  5. 2 days for voluntary work per year
  6. Enhanced Parental leave
  7. Mental Health support
  8. Group Life Insurance
  9. Team social events

In addition to these fantastic benefits, we have on offer…

  1. A social, fast pace and friendly workplace where your creativity and ideas are more than welcome and appreciated. We like to explore and we are not afraid to try new things. We will encourage you to challenge established ways of working and try paths that lead us to new heights - on all levels
  2. An opportunity to be part of a journey that makes a real difference for the food system at large but not the least in the everyday lives of our customers
  3. A rare opportunity to play a key role in this growth journey, challenging the status quo in the food retail business
  4. You will get a good combination of freedom, responsibility and variety
