Wantage

About the Company:

My client is a privately owned Main Contractor that undertakes projects across a variety of construction sectors, including Research and Development, Commercial, Manufacturing, Automotive, Healthcare, and Education. Operating across such a diverse spectrum of sectors has enabled them to move with - and adapt to - changing market trends, which has resulted in controlled growth for the business.

Sustained growth is aided by the fact that a large proportion of this company's work is awarded on a repeat-order basis from an extensive and ever-growing base of blue-chip clients.

My client has a turnover of £200 million and currently employs 300 people across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, and Cambridgeshire. The majority of my client's work is within Cambridge; however, they have started expanding into the Oxfordshire region, turning over £50 million from Oxford alone.

About the Role:

As an Estimator, you will play a key role in the pre-construction phase of our projects, working closely with the project team, clients, and subcontractors. Your primary responsibility will be to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for various construction projects, ensuring that all costs are accounted for and the project is priced appropriately for profitability.

Key responsibilities will include:

  1. Reviewing tender documents and client specifications
  2. Conducting site visits and gathering relevant data
  3. Preparing detailed cost estimates for labour, materials, and other resources
  4. Collaborating with project managers and subcontractors to refine costings
  5. Analysing project risks and identifying potential cost-saving opportunities
  6. Preparing and presenting tender submissions
  7. Managing and maintaining records of estimates and tenders

Benefits and Rewards:

We value our employees and offer a range of benefits designed to support your personal and professional growth, including:

  1. Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses
  2. Generous annual leave entitlement
  3. Opportunities for career development and progression
  4. A collaborative and inclusive team culture
  5. Access to professional training and qualifications

About the Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have:

  1. Proven experience as an Estimator in the construction industry, ideally within a main contracting environment
  2. Strong understanding of construction processes, costs, and tendering procedures
  3. Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
  4. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  5. Strong communication and negotiation skills
  6. A relevant degree or qualification in construction or a related field is advantageous
  7. Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office suite
