Job description

Adecco are pleased to be recruiting for a Intelligence Analyst to work for Sussex Police Force. This role will be a temporary role until at least October 2026.

You will be working Monday to Friday - 36 hours a week and will be Hybrid/Office based.

PLEASE NOTE DUE TO POLICE VETTING CRITERIA YOU MUST HAVE BEEN RESIDING WITHIN THE UK FOR A MINIMUM OF 5 YEARS CONTINUOUSLY.

The successful applicant will support Operation Bramber. This is an investigation into potential offences at a large medical establishment in Sussex. These cases are immeasurably impactful on the families of victims and survivors. You will be part of a team which will thoroughly investigate allegations in order to bring any potential offenders to justice and help ensure the safety of the general public.

The Role & Key Responsibilities

We are looking for a person who can identify connections from big data sets and evolving intelligence. You will have to ask insightful questions to get to the heart of a problem. You'll identify, interrogate, and assess information from a range of covert and overt information sources. You will have to get to grips with complex and technical problems, explain your thinking, and come up with creative solutions to help tackle crime.

You will be working on critical, strategic, and high-risk incidents. At times you will be under pressure to build a big picture from small pieces of intelligence and threads of data. You will be flexible and creative, and able to communicate your findings to front-line staff and chief officers. Your problem-solving, attention to detail, and presentational skills will be crucial in this investigation, where analysis of key data is required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Intelligence Analysts provide sophisticated analysis that supports officers and staff in effective decision making around complex problems. This is critical when policing is being asked to do more with less, and where accurate information and persuasive judgement needs to reach the right people quickly.

You will advise and assist in all aspects of this investigation by providing strategic and tactical analysis of intelligence and evidence. You will identify offenders, series and trends, and information gaps. You will suggest opportunities to gather intelligence and evidence in order to progress the investigation, solve problems or otherwise reduce threat, harm and risk.

Please note that due to the nature of this job, there will be times you may be exposed to investigations of a distressing nature.

Skills & Experience

We are looking for candidates with the following essential skills and experience. We will assess your application against these specific criteria, which should be clearly evidenced within your application form:

  1. Graduate calibre or equivalent qualification, or with proven and well evidenced experience of crime/intelligence analysis in a relevant field.
  2. A high standard of problem solving skills.
  3. Well-developed computer skills including the ability to learn bespoke systems, and design and develop recording and analysis frameworks by using databases, spreadsheets and other analytical tools.
  4. The ability to use logic and reasoning to influence others in a professional manner, to persuade people by using powerful arguments; identifying clear aims in negotiations and achieving satisfactory outcomes.
  5. Previous experience of interpreting and evaluating large sets of qualitative and quantitative data to extract salient points, develop inferences, and make recommendations.
  6. Well-developed communication skills both written and verbal, and the ability to present appropriately to groups or individuals, including senior managers and partner agencies.
  7. The ability to plan ahead, to manage and prioritise their workload unsupervised and respond flexibly to rapidly changing demands.
  8. The post-holder must take personal responsibility for their actions and for resolving issues or problems that arise, being focused on achieving high quality results and developing skills and knowledge.
  9. The ability to work calmly and effectively, especially under pressure.
  10. A flexible approach towards achieving team objectives and a willingness to undertake a wide range of duties.
