Job description

We are seeking to appoint a competent and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our wonderful school on a part time, temporary basis from 1st September 2025. The post is for 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term time only until 31st August 2026.


Milton Primary Academy is a warm and welcoming two form entry school where we believe every child should have a positive and enjoyable primary school experience. From Nursery to year 6, we aim to ensure all pupils fulfil their true academic and personal potential and are ready for their next stage in education.


The HLTA’s main role is to provide class cover support across the school, being able to teach and deliver a high standard of teaching and learning to classes from Nursery to Year 6. You will need to have high expectations of the pupil/s that you work with and yourself, with a determined approach to ensuring every child can succeed. You will join a staff team who are fun, dedicated, hardworking and professional and you will have a strong CPL offer to support you in this exciting role.


We Are Looking To Appoint Someone Who
  • Has a record of delivering high quality teaching and learning in a primary school setting
  • Is knowledgeable about the Primary National Curriculum and has taught a range of subjects
  • Is competent and confident to teach pupils from Nursery to Year 6
  • Has a positive approach to behaviour management and promotes a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Has high expectations of themselves and others
  • Can work as part of a team and is an effective communicator
  • Is organised and can use initiative as needed
  • Wishes to continue to develop as a professional
