Graduate Humanities Teaching Assistant (Leeds)

Are you a recent graduate in a Humanities subject with aspirations to pursue a career in education? Are you looking for hands-on classroom experience to set you up for a rewarding teaching career? Do you want to inspire the next generation of Humanities students?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Humanities Teaching Assistant at a well-regarded secondary school in Leeds. The school is looking for passionate graduates to join their Humanities department. Whether you're available for an immediate start or are looking for a September start, this could be the perfect role for you!

  • Full-time position until the end of the academic year
  • September start available for graduates completing their degree this year

Your Role:

As a Graduate Humanities Teaching Assistant, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Assist in delivering engaging lessons across subjects like history, geography, and other humanities topics
  • Support students on a one-to-one or small group basis to help them understand key concepts and improve their academic skills
  • Help create and prepare lesson materials that foster critical thinking and engagement
  • Encourage students to develop their problem-solving and analytical skills through the study of humanities
  • Track students’ progress and provide feedback to support their academic development
  • Help create a positive, inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and motivated
  • Assist with classroom management, ensuring students stay on task and engaged throughout lessons

What We’re Looking For:

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • A 2:1 degree or higher in a Humanities-related field (History, Geography, Politics, Sociology, or similar)
  • A passion for education and a genuine desire to support students in their learning
  • Previous experience working with students is desirable, but not essential
  • A fully enhanced DBS check on the update service
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to helping students
  • A strong interest in pursuing a career in education, particularly within the humanities
