At Kirklees we want to be innovative and creative in the way we work to deliver our services to our communities. As the Asset Strategy Manager, you will support the development and delivery of the Council’s Asset Strategy working across Council services to ensure their needs are considered when we make decisions about our assets.

You will be an effective leader as you scope and deliver asset-led reviews using a comprehensive understanding of service need, the capabilities of our assets, and our priorities as portfolio managers. We are therefore looking for a person with in-depth knowledge of what makes the council tick and considerable experience of working across services in a similarly demanding role.

Working with the Strategic Manager and other senior managers within the service, you will:

  1. Develop the Asset Strategy and ensure the Council’s principal asset dataset is both informed by it and informs it.
  2. Develop links with partners both from Council services and externally, for example, the One Public Estate Partnership, and use these to maximise the efficiency of our estate.
  3. Ensure surplus assets are identified and moved towards disposal.
  4. Provide expert guidance and advice on asset strategy.
  5. Work collaboratively with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders to deliver services.
  6. Performance manage the work of the team ensuring high standards of operation and delivery.
  7. Lead service and improvement planning that supports the achievement of the Kirklees Shared Outcomes and Service Vision.

Kirklees is a mixture of rural and urban conurbations. You will be expected to travel, and therefore having a full and valid driving licence is essential for this role (Exceptions may be made for disabled applicants).
