Job description

We're looking for a General Manager for a fantastic community pub in Hull. Salary up to £40,000 plus bonus and a generous benefits package.

Marston’s is one of the UK’s largest and most beloved pub chains and today, we operate more than 1,300 pubs, bars and hotels. Now, we’re on the lookout for a great General Manager to take charge at the Goodfellowship in Hull and lead the team to success!

About the pub

The Goodfellowship is a large community pub with a strong function trade. It operates via a large bar area and dining area serviced from one main bar that loops around the centre of the pub. Currently trading at a 70/30 wet led split, there is so much opportunity to grow this business through multiple revenue streams.

There are two function rooms (one with capacity for 250 people) with their own bars and both licensed to conduct weddings. Outside the pub, there is an attractive beer garden courtyard and a small grassed area which is perfect as a backdrop for wedding photographs.

The pub attracts a broad spectrum of guests with the bulk of the trade coming from the function business. However, there is a steady trade of people using the pub for family dining and to pop in for a drink. There is huge sales potential to be unlocked by developing the function trade at the Goodfellowship.

The Goodfellowship is located on the busy and popular Cottingham Road. It is directly opposite the University of Hull and close to the popular Newland Avenue and Princess Street drinking areas, meaning plenty of local trade to attract. It's also in close proximity to the crematorium meaning it's a popular choice for wakes.

The pub is well set up in terms of team, with 3 Assistant Managers and a growing kitchen team which has potential to continue to expand. This is a great site for someone with strong networking skills to really shine in. This pub is well known locally as a function venue and there is scope to increase that side of the business as well as breathe new life into the main pub business.

The pub has a manager's flat above comprising of 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, kitchen & a lounge.
