Embedded Software Developer - Leading Software House - York

(Tech Stack: Embedded Software Developer, C, C++, C#, Multi-Threaded and Multi-Process Programming, Microcontroller programming, QNX/Windows)

I am currently recruiting on behalf of my client, a forward-thinking Software House based in York, who are seeking a talented Embedded Software Developer to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and contribute to innovative projects within a collaborative environment.

Essential Skills:

1. Proficiency in high-level programming languages, particularly C, C++, and C#
2. Experience with real-time programming
3. Strong background in multi-threaded and multi-process programming
4. Expertise in microcontroller programming
5. Familiarity with communication systems and protocols (e.g., RS232, RS485, SPI, I²C, Ethernet)
6. Hands-on experience with PCB breadboard prototyping, including the use of soldering irons and hand tools
7. Ability to design both analogue and digital electronic circuits
8. Competence in PCB design using Altium or equivalent software
9. Experience in completing and verifying designs and accompanying documentation

Desirable Skills:

1. Knowledge of embedded Linux or RTOS
2. Firmware development expertise
3. Familiarity with FPGA programming
4. Experience with wireless communication protocols (e.g., Bluetooth, WiFi)
5. Understanding of industrial automation and control systems

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design and develop embedded software for a variety of applications
2. Collaborate closely with hardware engineers to integrate software and hardware components
3. Conduct testing and debugging of embedded software and systems
4. Participate in design reviews and contribute to the overall product development process
5. Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices
