An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 2 Health Care Assistant to join a dynamic Day Case Surgery unit. This role involves providing pre and post-operative care for surgical patients across various specialties. We also have 56 rehabilitation beds at West Park Hospital and 54 beds at Cannock Chase Hospital. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 2 Health Care Assistant to join the Day case Surgery unit. Day case consists of two areas at New Cross Hospital, Beynon with 16 beds and Appleby with 19 beds and lounges. We also admit patients that are coming in for more complex surgery that require a longer admission.
We provide Pre and post-operative care to surgical patients across several specialities including, Orthopaedic, ENT, Maxillo Facial, General Surgery, Urology, Gynaecology, Plastic Surgery and Pain Management.
The post holder will play an important role in this dynamic team. Your role will include assisting to admit patients using appropriate paperwork and support the patient in the post-operative period in order to facilitate a safe discharge. The post holder will also be expected to undertake any other duties as may be required to meet the needs of the service within the limitations of the grade for the post.
The successful candidate will be hardworking, motivated team player, including flexibility to respond rapidly, working under the direction of senior nurses within the team. You will need to work flexibly to meet the demands of the service and be able to work effectively with partnership departments and Surgeons across a 5 day working week. Ideally, you will have Surgical experience however, this is not essential as training will be given.
The unit is currently open 7am to 8pm, Monday to Friday.
