We are looking for a Senior Strategy Analyst to lead a team, focusing on identifying revenue trends, maintaining models, and collaborating with Commercial teams to support effective decision making. You will drive data-led decision-making across the organisation by applying clear thinking, technical skills, and strong commercial understanding. This involves identifying and utilising optimal mathematical techniques to create and maintain statistical models for commercial budgeting and forecasting processes. You will be joining our team on a fixed term contract of 18 months.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Data and Analysis Strategy: Define a strategy for Revenue and Business Strategy, maximising insights from various data sources to drive revenue and customer satisfaction.
  2. Model Development: Research, create, and maintain mathematical and statistical models for planning and periodic reporting.
  3. Revenue Analysis: Develop a planned approach to analysing revenue drivers, providing actionable plans, supporting business analysis needs, and training staff in basic analytical skills.
  4. Forecasting and Budgeting: Lead forecasting and budgeting analysis for the Commercial Team, reporting performance, highlighting risks/opportunities, and developing actionable insights from market trends.
  5. Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with stakeholders to report performance, influence key decisions, support franchise profitability plans, and manage a team of Strategy Analysts to cultivate a strong team ethos.

Who we’re looking for:

  1. Knowledge: Essential understanding of analysis processes and systems, database interrogation, and coding languages like Python or R. Desirable knowledge includes rail industry revenue analysis (PDFH) and tools like Tableau or Power BI.
  2. Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels, an open approach to complex data questions, and the ability to conduct detailed quantitative and qualitative data analysis. Capable of synthesising findings across various metrics to produce objective evaluations.
  3. Experience: Significant experience in data analysis and forecasting, operational research or analytical techniques, and creating and maintaining mathematical and statistical models. Desirable experience includes communicating complex data to non-financial teams, budgeting, team management, and strategic planning in a commercial environment.
