Assistant Headteacher

Location: Pentyrch, Cardiff
Salary: £45,000 - £49,000
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Masterclass are working with a dedicated and nurturing all through school committed to providing exceptional education and care for students with PMLD and complex medical needs. The school boosts some excellent facilities such as hydrotherapy pool, multisensory rooms and a high-tech music room.

The Role

As Assistant Headteacher, you will play a vital role in shaping the school's strategic direction, working closely with the Headteacher and senior leadership team. You will lead on areas such as curriculum development, student wellbeing, and staff development, ensuring our provision remains outstanding. This role will have a 40% timetable.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide strategic leadership and operational management across the school
2. Ensure high-quality teaching, learning, and care for students with PMLD and complex medical needs
3. Support, mentor, and develop staff to maintain outstanding teaching standards
4. Promote a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
5. Collaborate with parents, carers, therapists, and external agencies to support holistic student development
6. Lead on safeguarding and student welfare initiatives

About You

1. Proven leadership experience in a special school or a similar setting
2. Strong knowledge of PMLD, complex medical needs, and multi-sensory approaches to learning
3. A deep understanding of inclusive education and personalised learning plans
4. Excellent communication and team leadership skills
5. A commitment to ensuring every child receives the best possible care and education
