The Children’s Continuing Care and Assessment Team are looking for an enthusiastic registered nurse, with a strong clinical background in supporting children with complex health care needs to join our team as a Clinical Lead for medical devices, consumables and training.

The successful candidate will need to have a passion for working with children with complex medical needs and their families to promote excellent care coordination across the system. You will need to possess excellent clinical and communication skills and have knowledge and experience of equipment used by children with long term medical needs. You will need to demonstrate a proven skill set in practice education and in depth knowledge in complex needs consumables and equipment.

We are a bespoke community nursing team providing a range of nursing services to children and young people with complex needs, in particular supporting all aspects of the continuing healthcare process.

In providing this support to children, young people and their families you will be involved in the assessment of nursing need, management of care and oversight of the provision of equipment and consumables.

This role will also require you to develop and implement training packages as well as work with the system in the provision of a robust equipment model for LSCFT CYP provision.

To come and join our team you will need to have excellent organisation, clinical and communication skills. You will be a motivated team player and someone who is approachable to families and colleagues across the system. We are also seeking a nurse who wishes to continue with their development in community complex needs and will actively engage in our programme of continuing professional development to develop clinical and leadership skills as well as support a range of staff in developing theirs.

You will benefit from excellent management and peer support, opportunities to work alongside specialists, a personal and professional development plan. Caseload management and staff supervision skills will be developed within the role.

As part of the Children’s Complex Needs Nursing Service we work closely with the Special Needs School Nursing Team and Children’s Complex Packages of Care Team. We are a small team based across and covering East Lancashire, Blackburn with Darwen, Preston and West Lancashire. We work closely with Children Therapy Teams and wider health, education and social care to provide a genuinely child-centred service. We work in a variety of locations, including clinics, children’s homes, nurseries and schools.

You will be NMC registered, and have significant children’s nursing experience including working with children with complex health needs in a multi-agency context. You will need access to a vehicle for work purposes or be able to travel between community settings in a timely manner.
