Job description

Annual salary: up to £39,427.50

Multi Skilled Operative

Location: Crawley

Full Time Permanent

Salary up to £39,427.50 per annum, plus company van & fuel card

42.5 hours per week (8-5 Monday -Friday)

We are the largest provider of repairs and maintenance, and regeneration services across the UK. Mears provide tailored rapid-response and planned maintenance services through partnering arrangements with more than 70 local authorities, Arm’s Length Management Organisations and Housing Associations.

A Multi Skilled Operative within our Crawley branch will support residents with responsive repairs across our portfolio of properties working on a planned route. Part of a local team undertaking high standard Multi Trade repairs and refurbishment activities to housing properties delivering best in class customer service and satisfying all safety, quality, and cost control standards. You will have a certified core trade and complementing this can deliver additional trade activities in support of completing repair/refurbishment works on time and to a high standard in accordance with agreed standard operating procedures. Take ownership in undertaking construction, fault finding and maintenance repairs aiming for a first-time completion whilst remaining within budget and time parameters.

Day to day duties:

  • Carrying out reactive repairs in unoccupied properties
  • Responsible for duties to include but not limited to – hanging doors, skirting, architraves, fixing windows/doors, lock changes, repairing worktops, kitchen units, fitting new bathrooms, general plumbing repairs, painting and decorating, plastering, etc.
  • Providing high levels of customer care at all times

Role Criteria:

  • Core Trade in Plumbing or Carpentry
  • Experience in Painting & Decorating, Tiling
  • Worked within Social Housing
  • Good Timekeeping
  • UK full driving license

All our roles require candidates to have the entitlement to work within the UK, Mears does not currently offer visa sponsorship.

To drive a Mears vehicle, you must be aged over 21, have held your licence over 3 months, and have less than 9 points.

Candidates should be aware that all our roles are subject to relevant DBS/Security checks before commencement of employment.
