Head of Production
As part of the Service Delivery team, the Head of Production leads a team of experienced specialists across Scenic, Print, Lighting, Sound, and Video, ensuring the highest level of technical expertise supports our Project Managers and Commercial team.
Beyond technical leadership, this role is integral to the creative development process, working closely with client teams to refine and shape their briefs. By blending technical knowledge with creative vision, the Head of Production helps transform initial concepts into innovative, deliverable event solutions that push creative and technical boundaries.
The role also involves sharing expert live event insight, developing teams across the business, and taking direct responsibility for managing our most complex and high-profile productions. A strong background in Production Management for live events is essential to drive seamless execution and exceptional event experiences.
Main Duties:
- Lead and coach a team of production specialists, including Scenic, Print, Lighting, Sound and Video
- Ensure the specialists work collaboratively with PMs to ensure each element is quoted and delivered to spec across a range of live events
- Provide solutions in their area of expertise to achieve optimal margin for each job whilst still meeting the required deliverables to delight our clients
- Work with Account Managers/Commercial team to provide end to end hands on Production Management of more complex jobs
- Support the Account manager at client meetings and site recce’s, providing technical and creative advice and knowhow on the complexities of the event design
- Help establish and maintain good end client and venue relationships
- Present a professional image of the company at all times
- Provide schematics, kit-listing and full budgeting/technical quotations as required, managing the full technical budget for the project when required
- Ensure events are appropriately resourced for technical delivery and budgeted accordingly
- Complete risk assessments and method statements for H&S compliance on each job and ensure H&S compliance by all technical staff on site
- Manage technical aspects of each job on site including hands on installation and operation of kit across a variety of disciplines as appropriate/required
- Brief and manage freelance crew and inhouse technical teams on site.
- Ensure all technical aspects of the project are completed to the appropriate standard/spec
- Review feedback and work with Account Managers to undertake debriefs after each project
Job Holder Requirements:
- Significant experience in the pre-production and on-site delivery of live events
- Significant experience managing a range of complex technical solutions for Live events
- Experience producing quotes and managing budgets to secure a strong margin
- Team leadership experience preferred
- Communicates well with a wide range of clients, crew and colleagues across the group
- Robust and up to date specialist knowledge of technology, pricing and functionality
- Technical expertise in installation and operation of a range of technical disciplines
- Strong leadership skills with ability to coach, engage and direct a team
- Ability to resolve last minute problems on site quickly and pragmatically
- Organised with well-developed technical production management skills
- Highly motivated, enthusiastic, team player
- Computer literate with the ability to learn and assimilate new software
- Works effectively under pressure, giving clear direction during tight delivery timeframes
- Hands on approach, willing to exert additional effort to ensure every event is delivered to our high standards
Additional Requirements:
- The job holder is required to have a full UK driving licence for driving company vehicles to/from site (any endorsements to be acceptable to the company’s insurer)
- The job holder will be based at Maxx House, Bracknell, with regular travel to on-site venues.
- Due to operational requirements the job holder is expected to work flexibly according to workload, with some evening and weekend coverage required
- The job holder must pass the stringent security vetting procedures required for many accredited venues
